I found out this:
(keep in mind I'm no strat expert by any means, I just happened to know about a website that dates guitars... good luck with the purchase!)

Guitar Info
Your guitar was made at the
Ensenada Plant (Fender), Mexico
in the Year(s): 1995 - 1996

Fender: Mexico

Fender Mexico was established in on May 5th 1987, Ensenada, Mexico with electric guitar production beginning in 1989. Ensenada facility includes eight buildings, covering more than 200,000 square feet. This includes Electronics, Electric Guitar, Amplifier Cabinet, and String manufacturing. More than 1000 employees are on staff and are supported by the Fender Quality Control team which travels from Corona to Ensenada once a week to help maintain quality. Fender Mexico guitars and amplifiers are made using many U.S. components, again maintaining the highest standards.

Hope that helps!

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

I really don't see a reason to make a copy of a Mex Strat, much less a 1995 one (the N5 on the serial number means Ninety-5 i.e 1995, just like the Z0 in mine means Zero-0 = 2000.
BTW, because the rest of the S/N is quite big (92.997) like andrizzle said it is possible to either be a late 1995 or an early 1996.

If someone was going to all the trouble of copying a Fender wouldn't it make more sense to copy an American Strat from the 50s-60s or sth?

If you'd like post some of the body in case we see sth "off" but I really doubt it.

CheerS man!

I thought the same thing (about copying a Mexi strat)... but then maybe he's getting such a good deal it seems a bit shady... i dunno

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

i have a 1994 MIM Strat... not my favourite MIM strat in my collection but it is a good quality build wise...

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

im just curious, i looked at the hosting profile and i saw a black strat, is that the same guitar because it looks gorgeous

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

I'm not really familiar with those saddles and the tuners but other than that I don't see sth to worry about.
Looks like a cool guitar (nice color on that Rosewood fingerboard too!).
Just get her in your hands and if you like it then that's all you need to know ;)

CheerS!

yeah dude that one, its absolutely gorgeous what kind of pup do you have in it. the other one looks sick too, i dont think anyone would go through the hassle of faking a mim strat so i think you're safe. it looks like a steal (my mim strat was, i love it, better than most MIA ones ive played).

hope it plays nice for you if you plan on buying it
is that a vintage 2 point fender trem?

those are the same tuners and Saddles that were stock on my 1994 MIM Squier series strat... Back in the day when Fender didn't have any overseas Squier contracts, for a few years they made MIM Squiers... here in Canada i believe the only difference at that time in 1994/95 between the MIM Squier and the MIM Standard was the tuners and saddles.... but maybe they used those saddles and tuners on some MIM Standards as well in differnet parts of the world....

I bugged a tech friend who upgraded the tuners and bridge on a customers 2002 MIM strat and i got the old tuners and bridge off that customers guitar for cheap... so in theory my 94 Squier has been upgraded to Standard specs... it's the same neck and body and PU's as a 1994 Standard

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

the body wood in those mid 90's era MIM strats is most likely Poplar... could be alder... when i routed out my 1994 to take 3 full sized humbuckers in it the wood under the paint after routing does look like alder to my un-trained eye... it has a good grain pattern and is more maple looking then most Poplar i've seen... but most MIM guitars in the 90's are said to be poplar but i think they really used anything they could get at the time..

Re: MIM Fender Strat Identification??

let us know how it turns out or if you get it some mims are a real gem and that one looks amazing (off topic i know, but what humbucker do you have in your MIA)
