If I get a quality steel block maybe I won't need new pickups right away. Or will the block make a small difference and I'd be better off with new p/ups?
If the block is full size I'd go for new pickups first. In fact, I'd suggest new pickups first anyway...they'll make a bigger improvement than a new tremolo block. As far as Strat bridge/tremolos go, I like the Fender Custom Shop '62 reissues best. $100. I use them and just ordered a few more. I don't think you need to spend more than that for a Calaham or something boutique...the Fenders sound great. Lew
I'd read that the MIM trem blocks are zinc and undersized are really lacking. I was considering the Callaham but I'll check out the Custom Shop ones. Thanks. Steve.
I would go for new pickups as well, then, if those get you where you want to be, then you dont ahve to worry about the new block, but if the pickups are somewhat lacking, then get the new block.
