Re: MIM tele - Did I score a 1 piece body??
i understand the whole; "it's better to have 4 GOOD pieces, rather than 1 average piece" argument, but how is it possible that ESP can make an Edwards LP using 1 solid piece of very good african mahogany and keep it around $800 USD (not too mention extra labour involved with a maple cap, set neck, etc)? Correct me if i'm wrong, but alder is cheaper than african mahogany.
I don't know how much they charge in the States, but i paid $730 AUD (about $700 USD) for my MIM tele. That may seem excessive to you guys who probably get them for $350-400, but in oz there's no other option. So for that price range I don't see why they couldn't use 1 piece alder, when the Japs use 1 pieces mahogany for just a little bit more
