Mim Tele VS. US Tele- Body Dimensions

Hi everybody....

Can anybody tell me or find out for me, if a new Standard MIM Tele has the same body dimensions (thickness, width, depth) as an American Tele? Or even a vintage Tele?? I'm getting ready to go pick up a really good MIM Tele at the local shop, and it crossed my mind that the bodies may not be "vintage spec" or even "american spec" since some consider these guitars as entry level or for the beginner.

This is probably corny to most of you, but i wanna a Tele that isn't smaller in anyway compared to the rest of Fenders line!

Thanks a million

My MIM James Burton Tele is the same size as my old '54 Tele. The body woods are differant tho: alder in the MIM Tele and lightweight ash in the old Tele. The MIM sounds and plays just great! Jumbo frets too...a real plus, IMO.

I've got one of each & I find no difference in the size, weight, specs etc...just different woods.

Go play it & if it's "RIGHT"....you can't beat the price & the "MOD" factor!!!

Thanks a bunch Puckboy :) I knew right off that the weight was there! Thats one reason why i like them, nice & solid guitars.

I didn't think there was any difference in the body shape, but i just wanted to ask here to be sure before i bought one.

I really like these Standard Teles! And really theres only one thing i'm gonna do to mine when i get it lol and thats take a little piece of paper or tape thats some shade of brown, and cover up that black opening to the truss rod! To me that just jumps out a little too much when i look at it. But i'd do this by taking a piece of brown paper or brown tape of some sort and covering the truss rod opening then outlining the whole opening with an exacto knife, then remove the excess tape/paper, and you've got a more "wooden" look to your truss rod opening! And if you ever need to adjust it, just rip it off and do it again!
