OK, this was on the Tampa Bay area CBS show 'Studio 10' on every weekday mornings.

You can watch the clip here.

Adamas acoustic> Boss Compressor> Line6 DL4 direct to the board.

Re: Mincer's Holiday clip from TV

very cool Dave

i have 2 questions

- did you have monitors?

- how do you hear/feel the 'one' when you start building up loops? ... as i listened, i kinda felt each layer on it's own (like the 6/8 part you start with) ... but when you started improv-ing on the riff from 'angels we have heard on high', i had to 'resync' ... how do you approach it for yourself ? are you counting at all?

anyway, i totally dig the way hearing your music makes me wanna be a better / more inventive player ... classic/dance rock covers are so mundane compared to the really creative music you share with us

Yes I had monitors in the studio...and they were a good 2 seconds behind what I was playing! However, I tend to 'resync' my rhythmic loops all the time anyway, and I don't like to always start where it seems natural to start. I do this often with my band- it is impossible for the drummer to hear the natural '1' of the loop, so I stick with phrases that are a little ambiguous...or I play something 'very' rhythmic and completely disregard the rhythm, which causes this constant tension that listeners have to 'readjust' all the time. This was live tv so I get one chance to deal with any problems, but I usually have some kind of internal pulse going on so it isn't too bad. I guess from years of no monitors, or really bad ones in crappy clubs.

How can I watch this..? I get this downloaded to the Winamp as a playlist, but nothing comes. And yeah, I have the recent version.... Thanks.

Buying one ... no ... a funny story. I had a beautiful "anniversary" model Ovation that I wasn't using very much at the time. Sold it. Immediately got a severe "I need an acoustic" attack and bought my Takamine almost immediately.

My wife thought I was crazy ... I would agree ... felt much better from then on. I won't do that again. :smack:

Re: Mincer's Holiday clip from TV

it should play on windows media player....
You're right, thanks.
Very nice, indeed! I always look out for your clips, looping is just way cool, and you seem to really know what you're doing in that respect.

Re: Mincer's Holiday clip from TV

Great stuff as usual. I bet people that were watching that live were going..."how in the hell is he doing all that at once? I can hear it but I don't see it".

Re: Mincer's Holiday clip from TV
