Mind blown

Re: Mind blown

Yeah I doubt it lol. They're so tight assed in there. The stra bro is a single coil.

Re: Mind blown

Weird!

I do not see much market for it. Sure, it's cool as a replacement for Firebird minis and Deluxe minis on tele necks (many R2's have Firebird minis in the neck) and such. Gibson Deluxe minis that come in pickup rings (made of p90 covers) could very easily be replaced with the real p90's.

BTW they do the strat p90 thing as well:

Re: Mind blown

No they won't. They'll only build what they're set up for. They were even too obstinate to give me mixed mags and 2 conductor with separate ground on my Phat Cat even though that's what I asked for.

So they just said 'no' or they didn't build it properly? They certainly have built stuff more complex than that.

Re: Mind blown

They disregarded what I asked for. I had a discussion with Dennis about mixed mags and he eventually agreed after some arguing. Then I specified it in the write up. Then they wrote just A8 on the box and gave me A8. Another example was when I asked for an uncovered mini humbucker and they said no. I don't see how it could be that difficult to find a way to secure the bobbins to the baseplate without a cover.

Re: Mind blown

A P90 is the same size as a Mini Humbucker. Look at Neil Young and Mike Ness’ Les Paul Deluxes...

Re: Mind blown

You can fit a mini hum in a P90 rout. There are conversion setups for this (cutout soapbar or dogear covers).

You can't fit a P90 in a minihum rout.

PS: I have a set of Pete Biltoft's SP-90s (Strat-sized P90 type) and they're awesome.
Nice midpoint between Strat tone and P90 tone.

Re: Mind blown

I have the unshakeable urge to put this mini-hum sized p90 in a tele bridge, mounted with the traditional slant and 3-screw fixation

That would be exactly the kind of guitar that would look completely normal to a non-player, but that another axe-slingers would scratch their head about

Re: Mind blown

I have a dream, that one day ALL pickguarded guitars will be pool routed and allow any size or combination of pickups.

I have another dream, where non-pickguarded guitars will be loved by their owners for the sound they were made for, and are not called upon to change their ways in the name of unnatural combinations and compromises!

Lol but do what you want.
