mini hb help

i recently picked up an older seymourized mini humbucker (neck) and am unsure which way to mount it. that is, how do i determine which side is the front of the pickup? advice is greatly appreciated as i'm anxious to install this baby. also, anyone know where i might find a les paul style pickup ring for this thing, one that is contoured to fit the guitar's body?

Hi Frank, welcome to the forum....

The correct way to mount the SM-3 is with the braided wire facing towards the bottom of the guitar.

thanks butch. is that diagram for a neck pickup? the reason i ask is that the routing on my les paul seems to be asking for the wire to sit towards the top of the guitar.

I don't think it matters with that particular pickup. What ever works. Lew

this pickup is, incidentally, a 4-wire model. i plan on splitting the coils.
