Mini Humbucker Neck/Telecaster Bridge?

What's your opinion of a Squier VM Thinline Tele with a Mini Humbucker Neck with Alnico 3 Magnets, Vintage, Growl, Peter Green Mod, Bare Brass Cover, Bass: 5/Mids: 6/Treble: 6 and Calibrate to the Bridge Pickup and an Antiquity Telecaster Bridge with Flat Pole Alnico 3 Magnets, and Calibrate to Neck Pickup?

Re: Mini Humbucker Neck/Telecaster Bridge?

You posted this exact same thread the other day, dude. I recall one post said they had the neck pickup in theirs and it was great. Another said something to the effect it was more money for the mod than the guitar was worth. What happened to the original thread?

Why are you asking, again? Are you even planning to actually do any of the things you post? You've posted hundreds of hypothetical equipment questions that you've never make see the light of day. What's the point?

Re: Mini Humbucker Neck/Telecaster Bridge?

I'm trying to figure out how there can be a Peter Green mod to a mini? I mean, I would suppose you could do it (Don't even know what the mod is), but would there be a point? Did someone do it for giggles and stumble on something miraculous?

Re: Mini Humbucker Neck/Telecaster Bridge?

The Peter Green mod is having the magnet polarity flipped in one of the pickups so your center position is out of phase. It wasn't a mod that Peter did, it just happens his Les Paul came off the line with that mistake in one of the pickups, and it gave him a sound a lot of guys wanted to copy. Jimmy Page's #1 Les Paul had a push/pull on the bridge tone knob to flip the phase on one of the pickups and mimic that sound.

The OP didn't even specify what mini humbucker - because there are distinctly different kinds. A Firebird mini has a bar magnet suspended in wax under the coils, so you'd have to completely melt all the wax, flip the magnet and repot the whole works. A Les Paul mini is two Melody Maker coils in a P90 package, so what do you flip in that case?

The OP appears to have absolutely no intention of doing any of this. He's never posted a pic or clip of any of these 'experiments' he's suggested. He just posts stuff like it's a guitar IQ test ... just to be that way.

Re: Mini Humbucker Neck/Telecaster Bridge?

Just put the sucker in the "ignore" list.

His mastering of the English language is not enough to engage in fruitful conversation, so I don't think we'll see any significant contribution from him anytime soon.

I think he uses the Forum as a kinda twisted social-media experiment, and the responses he gets from his threads make him enjoy the feeling of being "above" his own pals, I'd think. He's not he first and certainly not'll be the last.

HTH,

^ +1

Apart from that, Peter Green's own account of the pickup phase issue was that a repairer did it by accident. Peter decided that he liked the way it sounded and left things as they were.

Stratman, I gotta tell ya - I do like that Tele! That's my kinda finish. Mmmm, mmm.

Just needs a tortise pickguard.

Seriously, if you ever wanna sell that, I'd be interested.

I actually tried a tortoise pick guard, but did not like the color under stage lights.

I did offer it to Scott_F, but never heard form him on it!
