Re: Mini Humbuckers
I played with Harvey Mandel on his "Baby Batter", and "Shangrenade" tour in Seattle.
He used the same Goldtop Les Paul with Minibuckers for both "Baby Batter" and "Shangranade" - first use of tapping on an American "pop" instrumental album. Before EVH.
Point being, if you are a guitarist, Harvey was big in the late 60's - early 70's with John Mayall, Canned Heat, his own band, and the tone he gets on Babby Batter and Shengranade is superb. Especially Baby Batter.
So yeah, they sounded Great! He had an Aucoustic solid state amp, and an MXR Dyna-Comp. his tone just dripped with honey and and crunched like stepping on popcorn, I know I will try one, but not just yet. Money money money, dentist dentist dentist. My own fault for being on the road for 20 years with lots of toothbrushes, but no cleanings or checkups. The bill is due at 65 years of age.
Steve Buffington ps Harvey was a scary guy into Kung Fu heavily. Played like no one else.
