Mint Green vs White guard, MAJOR difference

I saw this on the net and thought I'd go ahead and copy it and share it here with you all since I was really shocked at how big of difference two similar pickguards can make.

Take a look at how totally different the overall guitar body looks with a plain white pickguard and then a mint green guard, both on a surf green guitar.

I guess our brains sort of play a trick on us by making us think whatever we are seeing thats supposed to be white, is white, so in the case of the mint green guard, we still try to adjust for that being white and as a result it sort of messes with our perception of what the surf green color is. if that hopefully makes sense

Heres another shot of them a bit closer together so you can see its actually the exact same guitar, just photographed twice with the two different guards on it

Funny, the mint green guard causes the body to take on a greener cast, while, to my eyes, the white guard has the body looking more bluish to me.

Is that the way you see them, too?

I wouldn't say bluish, but yeah, the blues stand out more with the white pickguard (no pun intented). I like it better with the mint green.

One looks like a white guard, one looks mint green. But I know what you mean. The pickguard color can have a drastic effect on how the rest of the guitar looks.

For sure. I just went from a white guard to a tortoise shell guard in a sunburst Strat --- holy cow!

Re: Mint Green vs White guard, MAJOR difference

i should get pics, but moved the green guard from the "yellow' strat to the white one, and the white guard to the yellow, and BOTH guitars look better, made a HUGE difference.

more like the combos work better, but still
