Hello! I would like to put an SH5 in my prs SE.Im just wondering if an SD pup would work with their stock pup in the neck ,or would I just need to change out both? Thanks!

Pickups are cool with each other
they will play nice

The wire color codes may be different
And the magnet may be reversed

Both easy fixes

For the duncan the start is black

The coil connection is red/white

And the ground or finish is green and bare

i do not know what the prs colors are
But look at the switch

There will be one wire coming in to the switch
Going to the volume pot

That is the start

The one going to the body of the volume pot
Is the ground or duncans green

Two will be connected and may be on a coil split
That would be the series coil connection

If you select the middle position with both pickups on
And it is super thin sounding and lower volume

Exchange the green and black wires on the Duncan

Just the swap places
Green becomes start to the switch
and black goes to the back of the volume pot

Welcome to the forum!

Of course you can just install what you have. Look at the tips above- if you have any issues, come back to this thread and we can help sort it out.

My son has a Johnny Hiland (tweaked CE 24) with a Duncan Custom in the bridge and the original Hiland neck (about 7.3k Alnico ii or iv?) Works really great together. One neat thing on the JH is that the neck pup default setting is split coil, you pull the tone up to go full humbucking, sounds amazing through a Studio Vintage Marshall!
