Mixing Fender SC's and Duncans

I have a regular wound SD A2 single coil pickup to use in the neck of my strat. I was gonna use a Fender American Standard pickup in the middle with a C5 in the bridge. My question is, do I need to use the RWRP 'middle' strat pickup to get humcanceling, or are the 'regular' Fender SC's RWRP in relationship to the SDs? I was thinking that I would have to use the Fender RWRP, but maybe have to switch the live and ground wires for phase issues, but I'm not sure.

To make things more complicated, has anyone used the c5 with a 250K pot? I think the singles might be ice-picky with a 500K...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i just put a fender pickup in my strat, i combined it with regular wiring to the aps1 rwrp middle, and it was out of phase.......then i flipped the wires on the fender pup, and it became in phase, and humcancelling........... so, if we look at your situation, if you use the fender rwrp, and the standard aps, then you should be able to get them in phase and humcancelling by switching the wires around in some configuration (because your situation is the opposite of mine, but that doesnt matter, you will still be able to get it to work by flipping the wires on the duncan i believe)

Do you find that it is difficult to match single coils and humbuckers in terms of output? I have always had that problem, even with a very low-output bridge humbucker...

Yeah, it can be a problem. I end up adjusting the pickup heights alot to compensate. What I find really irritating is that the lower output pickups (the singles) have a greater effect on string pull as the polepieces themselves are the magnets. So, I have to adjust them first so that the axe doesn't get 'Stratitis' and then adjust the humbucker accordingly.

probably flipping the wires on both duncans would put them in phase and humcancelling with the fender rwrp, and wire the fender standard, dont flip its wires

Hey Mark; On my Genny, I use my C5 with 250k . . . sorta. My pot is a variable configuration, but I always run it in the 150k - 250k range. It just takes the edge off, to where I love it. Very smooth, but still maintains its clarity and character.

in a typical sss setup the middle should be rw/rp so you get hum cancelling in the notch positions. if you are mixing a humbucker and single coils and want to split the bucker then it will depend on which coil you want active when you split

if you have three single coils, sticking the tops together will work fine.

all seymours single coils (as far as i know) besides the surfers have the same polarity. fender on the other hand has changed polaritys a few times over the years

opposite polaritys should stick so yes, a normal pup should stick to a rw/rp pup
