Mixing Flavors - Aph-1 & Aph-2?

Hello - I am looking for to hear from anyone that has mixed Aph-1 and Aph-2 pickups in a Les Paul. Specifically Aph-1 in the bridge and Aph-2 in the neck. I own both sets and have played both sets and currently have custom shop Aph-1’s in my 2020 Gibson LP standard. I’ve always been fond of the Aph-2 neck, but not quite sure how mixing pickups would sound… because the Aph-1 bridge is not coming out of the guitar anytime soon. I’ll probably try it eventually, but it’ll cost me tech labor $$. I’m not handy with soldering iron and not ready to experiment on my $2k guitar.

Anyhow… the question is how would these pickups compliment each other, switching back and forth or both on…. would this mix be similar to mixing creamy and crunchy peanut butter, same flavor different textures, or like mixing peanut butter with almond butter, same texture, different flavors that are close but just don’t quite flow? Anyone try this combo?

They are mix and match. Any mix of them will work well together. I don't consider the APH-1 bridge crunchy myself, so an APH-1 bridge and APH-2 neck would be a smooth transition, IMO.

Welcome to the forum!

Honestly, those 2 pickups are more similar than different. I bet they mix very well in a single guitar. Each has its own take on the 'buttery, smooth PAF-type' humbucker.
