Mixing spkrs, Xpatterns (NOT gt75!), different cab pairings, etc - decent videos?

Re: Mixing spkrs, Xpatterns (NOT gt75!), different cab pairings, etc - decent videos?

The G12-65 replaced the G12M25 Greenback in 1979 as higher powered version of a Greenback. It sounds almost the same as a Greenback but without much speaker breakup. It was the standard speaker in Marshall model 1960 4x12 cabs from 1979 up to about 1984. It is highly prized for its warm, clean tone, by such guitarists as Robbin Ford. The word is out now though and its harder to find good used samples for sale. It's a G12M meaning it has the same magnet and loudness as a Greenback. The V30 uses the H magnet and will be noticably louder, brighter, and tighter than a 65. To find the most suitable mates for 65s; you should look into used vintage 65s, re-issue 65s, high powered Greenbacks, Eminence GB voiced speakers with higher power ratings..ect..

Celestion speakers can use several different cones even on the same model speaker. Some with large dust caps and some with smaller caps. Jim at Scumback says that the wide dust caps have a bit more bass. The G12T75 uses the large dust cap on the 1777 lead cone. The G12T75 uses the T magnet which is a modern verson of the M magnet. However, the T magnet gives a scooped sound compared to the 65 and the Greenback 25s with similar cones. However, the loudness of the G12T is the same as the Greenback and the 65.

You probably don't want the G12M70, so cross that off your list. Its not compatible tone wise with a 65.

Friend, I ***HAVE*** a 412 of intact 65s, trust me I really really dont need two more. One to offset a v30 in 212- just POSSIBLY - but what the heck would I want 6 of em over 4 for?!!? Surely not the power, if I cranked that 4x12 alone, itd be more than enough to demolish walls

Adding V30 for bite to add to the vicious bass and lomid punch of the 4x 65 frontloader cab, not for volume!!

...as to your links, lynchback doesnt have enough wattage to safely operate in 212 combo mode w/o lugging the extension cab around. And anyway, all of em are so dang GREENBACKY....its not for a plexi or a jcm, its for a 5150 clone. As in DONT WANT IT TO HONK. Lol.

Celestion also calls the GT75 "eqd like a high powered greenback".... Uhm, YEAH. Dont believe me? Heck *I* wouldnt have believed me...but check out their site. Shocking stuff there!

Trust your ears not celestion marketers. Those guys are the worst kinda used car salesman. Or just clueless unprincipled n aggressive

That's obviously BS about the G12T75, as anyone wth ears will know, but going by the reviews of actual users; the G12H-75 Creamback hits the nail on the head!

Firend you havn't done a very good job of communicating what you want to do. Your were talking about mixing speaker in an X pattern with G12-65s.... I think? Well if you mix LB speakers into a 4x12 its 50 watts x 4 = 200. V30's don't mix well with 65s. If you have already made up your mind that you want v30s despite that then what are you asking us for?

Your were not talking about a 2x12 in your original post.

Re: Mixing spkrs, Xpatterns (NOT gt75!), different cab pairings, etc - decent videos?

I was talking about, uh.... videos...of mixing and xpatterns (as a common form thereof), for drawing my own conclusions. For my somewhat different needs.

Also did say smthn about "a single type or mixed cab to mix with cabful off 12-65's". I'd emphasize that -ful part and other key pts since many seem to not notice otherwise, but chances are youd instead figure i was trying to yell at you, so as an oft-unnoticed lil detail itll stay

No I didn't think you were yelling at me, and I'm not trying to yell at you. I just misunderstood what you were asking. No problem.

Not you... Just a recent trend with other ppl. Mb i oughtta try italics or fonts or whatnot, but hilighting stuff on this here subcompact tablet is nigh impossible. :-)
