modded silverface fender amp 4 trade

originally a late 70"s musicmaster bass amp, it has been rewired into a 57 tweed deluxe 5E3 circuit complete w/ a new 12ay7 phase inverter. it also has a new 12" speaker. it get's as loud as a deluxe, but gets the powertube satuation earlier. fantastic studio and rehearsal amp. :14:


i have a new amp coming, so an amp trade (while, not out of the question) is not high priority. i am short of a guitar, tho'. and interesting pedals are always ..........uh........interesting.k:


hopefully, this will be a local trade (south louisiana).....but, i'm willing to ship if neccessary.

have you changed the power or output transformers?

when you say you put a 12ay7 pi in i assume you took out the interstage transformer? so tube layout is now one preamp tube, one pi tube, and two 6v6 with ss rectification?
cathodyne pi circut?
what speaker?

when you say its like a 5e3, how did you get around the lack of two channels?

what pedals are you looking for? what type of guitar?

Man, I wish I new more about amps... And that you'd be willing to trade that for a schecter C-1 E/A (and maybe a few other things, seeing as the schecter needs work)

the mmb amp was a cathode biased 12w tube bass amp with volume and tone controls and on/off switch. one pre amp tube and two power tubes, some were el84 some 6v6. the really weird (crappy) thing was they used an interstage transformer instead of a phase inverter tube. the output transformer is decent size but not really all that great and the power tranny is kinda small. filtering is pretty weak too.

cool amps to mod and fool around with.

i got the amp already modded, so i'm not REAL well versed on some details.

yes, the pi transformer was removed and a 12ay7 wired in it's place(new socket). i don't know the make of the new speaker (no label) but, it's got a bigger magnet than the originals i've seen. many components look new. i don't know about the other xfrmrs.

other trannys are stock from the pic and looks like the cathodyne pi or at least i dont see a typical longtail pair. cannot tell much else from the pics.
