Okay, so after spending the past year modding the crap out of my tele, I finally found something I was really happy with. Some of you guys were helping me figure out how to get it wired for what I wanted, and it has been working out great. For those who can't figure out what my signature is talking about, here's how it works:
So I'm screwin around today like usual, and this thought pops into my head. I want everything on at once. I want to basically have it as though I had two humbuckers on at the same time. The only way I can think of is to put another push/pull pot in (which wouldn't be much of a problem, I actually have a couple laying around) and have it act as an on/off switch for the bridge humbucker, so that I could have the neck and middle pickups on, in series, and then pull the switch and turn the bridge humbucker on to join them. Would this work? My main issue with this is...if I do this, can I still have the bridge pickup wired to the 5-way switch and have it act like usual when the switch isn't pulled up? Basically, I like keeping things as simple as possible while I'm playing, and I don't want to have to pull that switch every time I want the bridge pickup selected.
I already know whats gonna happen if this works...I'm gonna try to figure out a way to get independent volume knobs for the separate bridge and neck/middle, so I can mix the humbuckers, etc. I really need to just stop before I go to far and ruin something.
But, for anyone who has actually stayed awake through this and read it, I'd love any and all advice/tips you might have! Thanks everybody!
My telecaster looks like it has two humbuckers in it, but its actually just a standard HSS formation with a 5-way switch, with both neck and middle pickups crammed into the neck slot (therefore, making it look like a humbucker)
The wiring was normal at first, with a rw/rp middle pickup, so I had hum-cancelling in positions 2 and 4. Then I added a push/pull that turned the neck and middle pickups into series wiring, making it basically as close as I can get to a humbucker without actually having one in there
