Modeler/Emulator (Gibson Les Paul LPX)

Diminished Triad

Still relatively new, and attempting to distinguish itself from standard digital guitars or those plugged into digital sound effects. Whether its operating system is sufficient to separate it from "digital" or not, it does pack some great sounds and all in the convenience of the guitar instead of an array of effects boxes. Not on the high end of what most Les Paul's would go for anyway.

At the Gibson website they have some samples from this guitar which seem pretty impressive. At the very least, some very nice sound clips!

Re: Modeler/Emulator (Gibson Les Paul LPX)

Most of the preset sounds are detectably artificial - not unlike the Roland VG-99. The acoustic simulation sums everything up for me. Slightly fake sounding AND out-of-tune - not even out of tune in a single piece acoustic guitar bridge saddle kind of way.

The sounds would fool plenty of audiences some of the time. They would be acceptable if triggered from a Chapman Stick. For me, a lump of wood, some wires and a box full o' valves is still the way to go.

So they took that stupid firebird x and made it even more hideous? It looks like a budget les paul with too many buttons and the wrong pickups.

TGWIF is turning over in his grave.

I have only a few tube amps.....but they are all I have.
Heavy, need to baby them from gig to gig, and there isn't "instant dialing in" like you might have from ss/digital. But like classic rock, they just don't make 'em better! The same reason I don't find electric drums attractive at all. Thanks!
