I have a couple and enjoy every one of them. Surprised that the GNX4 still works being as old as it is. image.jpg

Let's see yours. And how do you like them?

Line 6 Pod HD400.jpg

I love the Pod HD400 and it's the bulk of my "rig." Funny thing is that even though it has thousands of combinations of amps and effects, I rarely use any more than about 4-5. Still, it's convenient, sounds good, and I can crank it through an amp or practice with headphones on Saturday morning without waking up the fam. I haven't used the RPx400 in quite a while, but I liked it just fine until I got my Pod. I have, on occasion, added it to my Pod's effects loop for added versatility.

I want that new Line 6 Helix that's coming out soon... that thing looks SWEET!

Re: Modelers anyone?

Just got a good deal on a second hand Behringer Bass V-Amp which has bass, acoustic, keyboard and guitar amp models, probably try it out this weekend not as a main rig but for home practice.

Re: Modelers anyone?

i disdain them for live use but for home practice i think they are a very good option. the blue vox valvetronics have been my favorite

Re: Modelers anyone?

I've had the Line6 M13 for a little over a year or so and I do like it, but I'm still learning how to use it. Trouble is, I gotta wait till I have the house to myself so I can run it through my JCM800 and 2x12 before I can really explore its features and potential. I have rack stuff for headphone/bedroom volume and direct recording. I got the M13 specifically for the Marshall.

I also need to pick up a 2nd expression pedal for it. Then again, it needs to be able to take at least 3 expression pedals for my needs - one for the wah, one for volume, and one to tweak drive settings on the dirt/boost pedals.
I guess I can add more through MIDI.

I also need to see if there's a way to link multiple changes to one button, so I can turn on the crunch while turning off the chorus and delay at the same time. I really don't want to use a MIDI controller for a pedalboard

My Dream Board would be a multi-fx floor unit that had every BOSS pedal that sounded identical to having the individual pedals, as there's always something noticeably different between separate units vs multi-fx units - I'm guessing the input buffers and output stages? You wouldn't need those with a multi-fx unit between effects. I imagine if they did have them, you'd get a "better" tone. Maybe if the buffer effects between modules could be toggled on/off.

Re: Modelers anyone?

GNX 3000 for me
Run it into a powered speaker
Have left out set to drum loop
Right out guitar

Currently using bass with it

The 3k has 5 bass models the the RP series don't
Some of the other GNX series omit this as well

Yes it looks sweet. But I bet it holds a nice price tag though

Re: Modelers anyone?

I wonder how a Vox ToneLab would compare with what's available right now. For tone, it was the best modeler I've tried so far. It wasn't really software-based, so it had limited options. This was fine with me, as it was practically stuck on "80's UK".

Re: Modelers anyone?

My main amp for the last 9 years has been the Vox Valvetronix AD50VT. I use the U.S. High Gain (Soldano) model a majority of the time. It's been a great amp for me. Out of the box it was a bit stiff sounding but that was mostly due to the noise gate being dialed up too high. I've got it set so it is barely on and the amp opened right up. The stock speaker has been swapped out for a Celestion Classic Lead 80. Major difference over the stocker.

My first amp was a 20 watt version. Still have it for bedroom playing set to some kind of Fender. I'm not at my apartment to tell you right now. I'm looking to get a 2x12 combo amp of some kind soon. I run my POD HD500 into the Vox for all my effects.

Re: Modelers anyone?

I use a Line 6 Vetta II. That thing has all I'll ever need! Most big name amps, cabs, mics and pedals, and all tweakable!

Re: Modelers anyone?

The GNX4 is the one that lets you blend two amp sounds together and then make another sound out of two already blended sounds blended together yeah? How do the models compare against current modelling technology? I've heard some very mixed opinions about it.

Re: Modelers anyone?

My GNX3000 mixes two amps and blends them with with the expression pedal

I like most models and they respond well to the included effects
outboard pedals not so much

when mixing amps, you can chose one of the amps to be an acoustic sim
this is neat
then using the expression pedal, blend the two
what I have noticed is the amp overpowers the acoustic fairly quickly
and the blend has to be almost all acoustic for both to be heard

Re: Modelers anyone?

i dont have or use a modeller amp/pedal but I do use a modeller PC program as my main go-to practice amp

Guitar Rig 4 f*kin rocks.. I put on my headphones.. set the drum programs pattern/tempo and im in heaven. I really need to get another interface soon though.. My latency is extremely small and if there is any latency/lag , I cant tell.. my interface is a tad noisy at times and it can be quite quirky.. Not the interfaces fault as its just showing its age

Re: Modelers anyone?

The GNX4 was such an amazing unit when it came out, perfect for solo, duo or trio acts with clean guitar sound songs. I wish that lineup wasn't discontinued or atleast improved up.

Like what zoom has been doing with their recent units.

Would love to have the tech21 fly rig 5 someday too.

Re: Modelers anyone?

I use a Line6 M9 and a Tech 21 Fly Rig 5. Would love to get a Fractal FX8 though.

Re: Modelers anyone?

Have a Digitech RP355. Some of its sounds are passable, others not. It sits in a box because I think it sounds too digital.
Had a Peavey Vypyr 75 when they first came out. It had lots of great sounds, but using it live with the Sanpera I was a disaster. Far too cumbersome and temperamental. Sold it.
Now I have a Roland CUBE GX-40 which sounds quite nice. Bought it due to it's size and weight (20#). I know I lose a small amount of 'tone' as compared to my tube amps, but the reduction in weight and bulk is substantial (and my back and elbows are appreciative).

Re: Modelers anyone?

I have an old DOD FX7 I got back when I was still somewhat new to guitar. Years later I won a drunken eBay bid on a Digitech RP7. I used the DOD quite a bit for a few years, and played around a lot with the Digitech but never spent the time to really set up any good patches.

They both had some OK sounds and were nice to try different effects. However I upgraded amps and realized how much better it sounded. Every once and a while I pull one of the multi-effects back out and piece together some crazy sounds. I'm sure the newer technology has really improved the sound quality of such devices over the ones from back then.
