Which of these two modelers is better?
On the same note, they sound pretty good when using it, and I've also heard people sound like absolute crap with them. They're pretty fiddly.
You just have to sit down and play with them a lot. Don't expect to find an amp you like, EQ it, and get all the right pedals in 30 seconds. It's a pain in the ass for sure.
I'm inclined to say the Line 6 but I don't know without having used either.
I don't have any experience with either of those two models, so I can't really vote. I use a POD HD400 and love it... so I kinda dig the idea of the POD X3 being the better of the two.
I can't tell you how many hours I've spent tinkering with the sound in order to get to "my" sound... definitely a PIA! The funny thing is that I have all these different variations available to me, but just use one amp setting along with a couple different levels of distortion. Occasionally a chorus or phaser, but I rarely vary!
I'm inclined to say the Line 6 but I don't know without having used either.
My basic patches are clean, overdrive, distortion, and fuzz, each with chorus, delay, phaser, and wah. I don't like having a bank for each song, because A) that's too much work, and B) I like using my POD more as though I have 4 effects pedals than if I a patch on a modeling system. I learned on pedals, and I like that tap dance.
Percy: You know, they do say that the Infanta's eyes are more beautiful than the famous Stone of Galveston.
Edmund: Mm! ... What?
Percy: The famous Stone of Galveston, My Lord.
Edmund: And what's that, exactly?
Percy: Well, it's a famous blue stone, and it comes ... from Galveston.
Edmund: I see. And what about it?
Percy: Well, My Lord, the Infanta's eyes are bluer than it, for a start.
Edmund: I see. And have you ever seen this stone?
Percy: (nods) No, not as such, My Lord, but I know a couple of people who have, and they say it's very very blue indeed.
Edmund: And have these people seen the Infanta's eyes?
Percy: No, I shouldn't think so, My Lord.
Edmund: And neither have you, presumably.
Percy: No, My Lord.
Edmund: So, what you're telling me, Percy, is that something you have never seen is slightly less blue than something else you have never seen.
Percy: (finally begins to grasp) Yes, My Lord.
