Modifications - Brown NoteD'Lite 22/33 Build

Still liking my D'Lite 22/33 ... have made a couple of adjustments since the build:

Added Loop: This loop lets me add a Digitech Hardwire REVERB and DELAY + EBjr 50k Volume Pedal + Korg Pitchblack Tuner (all very quiet in the loop)

Added Relays: Added two footswitchable relays that flip the CLEAN-to-OD and the PREAMP BOOST. This lets me take all the OD footpedals out of my system and just use the amp.

Added EVM12L Reissue: This speaker sounds just like the EVM12L I had since the early 80s in my Mesa/Boogie. I've recently joined a band and at live volumes the 1x12 with the G1265 was a little loose on the low end.

The amp is kicking and is doing well in the live band right now.

I noticed that nobody responded to this Feb post. Actually, these final adjustments to this amp ... I built myself from a kit ... have made it just about perfect.

I run the system without any effects in front of the preamp ... just have reverb and occasionally delay in the loop. Keep my tuner there too.

Anyway ... highly recommended. I probably won't build another amp, but this one just hit the mark. The EVM12L made this rig ... my favoite speaker for 25 years ... it makes this amp, as well. I am running it with 2x6L6 at 33 watts and can gig with it.

doveman - sorry I missed your post in February! Looks like a very nice build.

What kind of effects loop did you add? It looks like it may be on a PCB - did you build it or buy it?

Now that you're all done, were you happy with Brown Note's kit? Moss seems like a great guy. Just wondering how the support is, etc.

I was kinda interested in building one of these at one point.

it's a little unfortunate, but at the LA Amp Shows, when I stopped by their room, they seemed to always have the same people playing their amps over backing tracks ... a very controlled atmosphere, and not very conducive to just walking in and listening to the raw amp ... I just lost interest

although they seem like an interesting "D" type amp, I'd like to see what else they can do

I listened to your clips ... I especially liked "Hellhounds", 'cause your slide tone has just the right balance of clean/ overdrive

sounds like a great amp for your playing

The amp kit: Really high quality kit ... technical support good. I had questions throughout and was able to get help easily.

Loop: IronSounds was about ~$75 I think ... works great ... true bypass switch ... solid state ... I leave it on all the time.

Hellhounds: 6v6 with a high setting on the OD trimmer (more D-style). I currently run it a bit lower on the trimmer with "tighter" 6L6s. Just a good solid amp with a nice front end OD. I liked my Mesa Boogie Mk1 for 30 years for the same reason. The D'Lite is a bit more controlled and easier to switch between OD and CLEANS with the footswich relays mentioned above.

Service: Good technical support but I always seemed to have trouble getting orders filled ... things shipped. Kinda backwards if you are trying to make money. They seemed to get overwhelmed on the business side. But once you get the gear, it's outstanding.
