Modified two more of my Yamaha Pacifica's this week

Re: Modified two more of my Yamaha Pacifica's this week

Sweet! I don't have any sunburst guitars currently ....

It's a great guitar. Got it used at GC when they had the wrong pic up. They had a 112V up and listed for $99 I think. I called the store and asked for pics. The pics they sent didn't match, but I thought it looked so good I still bought it.

I caught one of my natural/rosewood 112J's from GC for $75 because they thought it was a 012. 012's don't come in a natural finish. :D

Nice. Do you know the place where you can order pickguards for Pacificas? I found one where I get mine. That's where I get my HH and SSS pickguards along with HSS pickguards of different colors.

If I jump in the pool here, I'd want an HH pickguard, too, so any link to them would be great.

Here's a pic of my 611VFM...fantastic guitar. No reason at all to change anything on it except the strings when it's time. The only thing I did besides a setup was put a treble bleed kit on the volume pot. I am getting another pickguard made of aged white pearl just for looks.

Among the new Pacifica models, this, PAC502, and PAC510 are the only ones that are on the same levels with the older MIT and MIJ models.

Re: Modified two more of my Yamaha Pacifica's this week

I have to agree. I bought a new PAC311H about a year ago and it was in no way up to par with any of my older Taiwanese 112's etc. The bridge had actually been drilled/mounted incorrectly and the low E string was barely even able to hit the fretboard. You had to make an effort to keep it from pushing off of the side of the fretboard. Needless to say it went back (mail order...l know...I know....)and I started buying multiple versions of the older Taiwanese models. I do have one newer Indonesian 112J that may be a keeper.

Re: Modified two more of my Yamaha Pacifica's this week

After using both guitars at recent gigs I'll say that the SH16 in the natural 112J is definitely brighter, but cuts through the mix well while the Custom 5 in the 212VQFM sounds bigger with a little higher output and more lows, but the scooped mids don't cut through as easy as on the SH16. The C5 not cutting through in one of my bands is not a big problem because I'm the only electric guitar, but in my other band it could be an issue because there are two electric guitars. I'll have to see when I get to that point. Both guitars played great and sounded great...just different.
