Modular preamp with dimebucker or JB

I am curious if any of you have tried either of these two pickups with the modular preamp. If so, how did it turn out?

Re: Modular preamp with dimebucker or JB

The preamp generally works best with much lower output pickups. Even the Gus G. Fire Blackouts set uses two very low output pickups boosted through the BMP-1 preamp.

Player feedback with higher output models has been generally unfavorable. Although, you might dig it, who knows...

If you've already got the BMP-1 and a JB or Dimebucker, I say give it a try. If not, consider the Dave Mustaine LiveWire set for a really great "active" JB or the AHB-3 "EMTY" Blackouts for something closer to the Dimebucker.

I tried the BMP-1 with a Dimarzio Super Distortion and it was awful. The Super Distortion is a smokin' pickup and it was so hot with the BMP-1 that it wouldn't clean up even with low gain settings and it was squashed in compression. the best I've heard a BMP-1 was with the Duncan Custom SH-5 and a Duncan '59 in the neck. The Full Shred also worked beautifully with the module
