modulation pedal

hey, can you guys recommend a modulation pedal (to run in a loop, so line6 is out) that'll give me a flanger, chorus and hard tremolo? I need those 3 and nothing else. I was considering the line6 MM4 but I know it doesn't like being sent a line level signal. any other considerations?

Re: modulation pedal

The Yamaha Magic Stomp pedal has all of those effects on it.

I've never used 1 myself, but they get mixed reviews on the web.

Maybe someone on here has used 1 before?

Re: modulation pedal

The above named Magic Stomp from Yamaha might be worth checking out, it gets real good reviews allover, so if you have the chance to test one out, give it a spin.
Personaly I think the RP350 from DigiTech does not do a too bad job either, and is not too expensive either. I use the GNX myself, only through the FX-loop's return, skipping the preamp and using amp/cabinet mods, with nice results in my opinion.
Korg's Tonework has the features you named, and although not that bad of a unit, I guess there are better choices out there such as the RP350, which has new DNA2 Processors and a lot new amp/cab models, and very decent effects including Lexicon reverbs, etc...
I would certainly check out a DigiTech RP350, and see if you like it for what you are after.

Re: modulation pedal

Another +1 to try the Magic Stomp, but I think it's OOP, right?

Everyone uses a G-Major in the loop, I know it's expensive, but maybe on ebay it'll be a bit cheaper and will really do everything right.

Are you sure about the MM4 not taking loop signals well?

yeah, when Line6 built it, they built it to be put in front of the amp. It has a tendency to distort when put in a loop.

Re: modulation pedal

I think the L6 MM-4 sounds fine into the front of the amp, so that's how I use it.

Another option is buying it in the rackmount version, and controlling it with a midi pedal like a Rolls Midi Buddy. Then when you buy the rackmount delay, you'll have a complete arsenal of FX, all running through your FX loop.

You see a lot of racks and studio racks with those 2 L6 rackmounted units.

Re: modulation pedal

I think Ibanez used to make rackmounted FX with their own footcontroller. If you can find some late 80's units and snipe them, it'd be the best setup for the cheapest price. Just keep searching for ones 'ending today' on Ebay.

Whatever you do, don't buy the Digitech 80's units....horrible.

after my latest excursion with ebay, I'm kinda skeptical.

Re: modulation pedal

Just checked the Marshall, and it doesn't have the tremolo, just chorus, flanger and phaser.

Re: modulation pedal

Thanks, everyone!!!

I think I'm just going to by the Danelectro Tuna Melt and re-arrange my board. I just don't have that much real estate to begin with so I may take the chorus out and use the trem on soft to emulate.
