Montgomery Wards PA into 18 inch speaker

This is among the more odd pairings of gear I have. But when I use it, it reminds me of Jeff Beck's early solo album tones. Ice Cream Cakes esp. Very loose, open and fat. It is a 1960 something Ward's PA, Music Man bass cab loaded with an EV 18 inch monster. The guitar is a 78 Hondo II LP copy that was given to me. Original Dimarzio in the bridge, I put a GFS lipstick in the neck. Outside of a .01 tone cap, the rest is stock.

Not a fancy clip, just a PZM back 7 feet, and me messing around. Likely gonna use this set up on an upcoming track. Has its own sound for sure... It will be at the next gig, in all of its huge fatness...:dance:

I dig the playing big time but it's a tad too much gain for my taste. I bet I'd like it better in a band context...raw

Raw meat is a perfect way to describe it. I have really been letting go of the concept of 'perfect' tone. I think it makes things too safe. My musical heroes were not polite, in fact, the flat out offended many people :soapbox: My quest for tone, has made me embrace all the rude and impolite things that an electric guitar can offer. It is kinda sleazy...This set up sounds very ' root to the fruit' if you will. It feels old, in a way that I love.

It is tube 6l6, 12ax7, Behaves like a tube rectified amp, but it is not., I will try and get some pics up soon. It is a bizarre robot looking thing. Total 60s future stuff.
