Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

I dunno about you, but I think this sounds fantastic:

I mean, two channel, cab sim sounds a lot better than most. There must be a fatal flaw.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

The mic'd cab sound was nice, the reverb helped a lot as usual. If these are 100 bucks each then they are very pricy. The Atomic Amplifire Box gives more options in one unit than buying multiple ones of these.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

The Mooer is digital modeling, the AMTs are analog FET designs.

I have the 003 which is a model of the Koch Powertone, I had read a lot about these and this one came up cheap. Yeah, they do sound really good, from what I've read it's Mooer's version of amp profiling, but they decided to do single amp versions instead of effects and everything.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

Yeah, I wouldn't really want to get all of them. My AT4 covers everything, but I didn't hear as much of the top-end fizz so it got me thinking.

Anyways, right now I'm about unloading a punch of plugs and at least one pedal but I'm surprised that a pedal, can go straight into a soundcard and sound like that.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

Well, I've always believed tone comes from within, so........

But that sound! For a 100ish usd pedal? Man, that's just crazy.

Awesome! I want that 50 50 bad. See, I don't really shred but I like high gain type sounds like that. Something is really appealing to me with it.

Watch reverb for B-stock/demos from Prymaxe, ~$53 with free shipping. Right now they have a 002 and a 007.

My understanding is that the GE200 is basically that: all of them into one unit (and much more)... There's a very good demo from Ola on youtube but I can't link from here right now... pretty impressive.

I'm quite interested in the Radar, their IR/powerampsim/Eq pedal, which is a much cheaper (although more limited) competitor to Two-Notes CAB. Once again, Ola's demo is quite impressive.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

The GE200 looks nice, and I would be interested, but with only 3 buttons, how would you use it live?

Here is the Ola review, he does great reviews but to me everything he does is so thrashy it's hard to tell if something would work for me.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

Mooer has a bunch of cool stuff out lately. I remember the "Red Truck" vid B.Kingman did, sounded decent enough to have. Ola has a bunch of vids on their stuff but I haven't checked it out properly. Even Nux has some new stuff out.

These preamp pedals though I'm not so sure are alike or low res versions of the Kemper profiles but they sound much better with external cab or IRs. Maybe they decoded GuitarRig/Amplitude/Revalver algos into these, that might have been easier to hack I think ;)

Yeah, he clearly demos things from his perspective and with "his" tone... good thing that although I'm not a major metal player, it's still closer to my sound.

Re: Mooer 50-50. Are they really that good?

The problem is this the floorboard is that I end up having too much stuff. I've had them all, fire hawk, the boss, and I had a helix :bigeyes2:

All gone and I'm in the box again (I'll spare the long story)

But the sound of the 50 50, something just sounds like it's not fizzy, doesn't require eq, and it's not too gainy or under gainy. Really wish they had them locally because even though I'm a pretty good player, I'm going to sound different than those guys.

Oh and that is the other thing, I don't really play a lot of metal per say. But I like highish gain. Rhythm is fine but I never seem to get the lead tone I like.
