I think you are on the right path. Sounds good, I have been looking at the GT-8 and your clips are a great help.

Re: more gt8 clips,tube emulation

gt8 to line in of soundblaster audigy 2 zs,cubase sx2,only adjusted the volume slider before exporting to mp3.
guitar was my jackson-kramer hybrid with sd custom neck bill lawrence L290 middle and dimarzio hum from hell bridge.

clean is the neck+middle position ,i played around with the pickup switch on the distortion clip going through most positions.

reverb is from gt8 too ;)

You've got a really killer sound going on there. I'm not sure which one I like more, but they both sound really great!

Would you mind PM'ing me the settings you're using?

made 2 new patches trying to get the gt8 to sound just like my marshall tsl601 when cranked,so here ya go. tube clean (little bit of breakup for that extra something) tube dist bass is a little farty on both but they have much more depth than my older patches, still a little bit to go but sounds very natural to me. tell me what you think,my ears are tired ;)

I dunno, I own an ME-50 because I absolutely hate amp modelling.
The first clip isn't so bad, if that's what you're looking for. I wouldn't strum chords with distortion on unless it's very mild. Maybe what you're wanting to sound like is a loud amp, without being loud?

The second clip is nice. Wow, a nice little riff there! Sounds metal to me. However, I hear a LOT of pick attack. Are you using stainless steel picks? :D Anyways, sure, sounds fine to me. Usually if I get in a rut, I use the presets for a while. I aim for "my own tone" rather than getting an effect to match something that someone else uses. Just my style.

I've used the GT8 before. It's really not bad. I prefer knobs and no amp modelling, however, so I use the ME-50. Still, it's Boss, so it's good! :)

Re: more gt8 clips,tube emulation

well i got this multi cuz i was sick of how many pedals i had to carry around but i only got it after trying it out and seeing that i could get some nice tones from it.
what i was working on these 2 patches was the depth or resonance of the tone
so far my patches sounded good but compared to a real amp it was like they cut off the eq and i was only getting a portion of the real tone.

as for the dis rythems, well i like glam too and this loose bass response seemed more suited for that than say a thrash metal riff (but that sounds pretty good on it too ;) )

my pick is a dunlop tortex H3 (shaped like a jazz 3),moved around a bit with where i strumed and did some not too good fingerpicking on the clean mp3.

Re: more gt8 clips,tube emulation

here are my 2 old dist tones for you to see what i ment.

marshall 1.0

thrash

(from my older gt8 clips thread lol,ive been doing too many of these.i also have a few jams ive done with these 2 tones, sounded pretty good actually)

as you hear sounds like something is missing imo, lots of clips ive heard by other people for the gt8 or the pod suffer from the same thing.

just out of curiosity - how is the HFH in the bridge position? i got one in the neck, thinking about testing it in the bridge, but i wana hear some input on the sound before i open my axe up and go to work with a soldering iron.

well its not bad like dimarzio say on their site,i find it lacking in punch and not enough output for my taste.
it has a nice clean tone but not so much in distortion.

Re: more gt8 clips,tube emulation

Use the resonance effects. They really add to the sound.

That and two amps at once are a good way to fill out the sound.

Re: more gt8 clips,tube emulation

Had to revive an old thread since I'm looking at the GT-8 myself. Very nice clips.

And Tornado of Souls = :headbang: Although the tempo sounded a bit uneven, but I get the idea you were more just messing around as a test.
