More import mania

Re: More import mania

Damn Jeff...I love the SA line Ibanez guitar....especially the mahogany line!
This is so not helping!
Well my made in Korea Wolfgang is not going any places!
:D

My first two Wolfgangs were Korean made quilt tops and they were beautiful to look at and exceptionally well made. The licensed FR bridges (zinc maybe?) weren't as solid sounding as the steel one in my USA Special and the necks on the Koreans didn't seem as wide (string spacing) as the USA but otherwise they are great guitars.

Re: More import mania

Thanks everyone.

I'm digging it, but its tough to get used to...palm mute chugga which is kinda my forte is MUCH tougher with this thing. This is the first "strat" I've had in quite some time. I've always liked the sabres and later S series guits from Ibanez. IDK why...just always have been one of the better "fits" for me. The neck is not as flat or teeny as the wizard necks either. Its a little deeper and more rounded than a modern C from Fender.

FWIW, my Korean Wolfgang Special was prolly my fave Super strat ever. Built well, floyd worked flawlessly. Great sound, great neck, great player. I'd actually been looking for one, but couldnt find a used one for any less than what they went for new!

Re: More import mania

I just go by the way they feel and sound now ... used to be different. I've got guitars made in USA, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Mexico & Brazil right now. It's a world economy and these guys are making good guitars ... sometimes they're awesome guitars.

My latest is an Indonesian made Washburn that I've been posting as a project. It runs with the Gibson SG Standard I bought my son last year. It's less than 1/3 the cost ... 1/2 after the work I've done ... and I like it a lot.

More power to you ... enjoy the new axe ... politically correct or not. :)
