More thomann fun and their legendary 3-years warranty

I had the locking nut's bolt broken :

and it is the first time this is happening to me in my 24 yrs long history with floyds.
I filed a case via their system, and also sent them various emails. No answer.....

I don't know if ridiculous claims about voiding warranty for specific parts, is enough to void the warranty for totally unrelated parts. This is nowhere written.

I won't lose any sleep over the nuts bolts, I just wanted to let people know that Thomann is the worse dealer in Europe. By far.

Never had a problem with them myself though (nor any German store), and I've returned a lot of stuff (due to various reasons).

Re: More thomann fun and their legendary 3-years warranty

I have not been in Europe long enough to have to use their warranty yet. I always try to give local music stores here in Greece business before I go online. However, I wanted a Gallien-Krueger bass amp since I have been using their bass amps for the past 16 years now. I went to my local shop where I buy most of my music gear from and they tried to sell me a different brand of amp. Then they took down my info and said they would call me. About two weeks later they called to say they could not get a GK in Greece.

So, I ordered one from Thomann and it was here in 5 days. No problems with it yet but it has only been about a year now.

While I understand you're trying to make a point here, if I had a Floyded guitar that I bought from outside the country have a broken locking bolt I really wouldn't waste time with a warranty claim as chances are they'd ask to have it shipped back to them.
I WOULD however simply ask them to mail me a new locking bolt, it's cheap enough that it shouldn't be an issue for them either.

Although, to be honest, what I'd personally do would be to take this chance and order some stainless steel replacements from FloydUpgrades or similar. Hell, my only guitar with a locking nut (the other have a Floyd with a graphite/ebanol nut) I replaced them the moment I got her without any issue ti begin with. Just to be sure and because I think they look better :D

hey thanx, I didn't imply anything about sending the whole thing. Maybe I didn't make my self clear, so those guys got terrified by the idea of my ghost coming back on them? Could be. They would be kind enough to say, here are your bolts. Done deal. However they have been SILENT for over one month!!!

I don't question their coherence about getting things back in the first 15 days. I believe they do that. What I question is their service. Or the lack of any after-sales service in its entirety.

If greek stores owners had some decent service, this would save us from some remote online unpleasant expreriences. For me, internet is over once and for all.

I agree. I couldn't believe they could not even find a way to order a Gallien-Krueger amp for me. I honestly feel they were trying to sell me one of the other brands they carried in their store. Decent service would be nice and to be fair to them, they have always come through for me on everything else I have bought or ordered from them. However, all the other things I have ordered from them are brands they already sell in their store.

Re: More thomann fun and their legendary 3-years warranty

Despite being in Europe, I have never sought to purchase anything from Thomann. It seems to me that their only great advantage is low prices. These are achieved by not adding purchase taxes for my country. It is inevitable that the government of my country will eventually close this legal loophole AND demand any uncollected duty and taxes retrospectively.

Since I have the good fortune to live within thirty miles of two very good retailers, I prefer to keep them in business by spending my money locally. Even on the simplest level, I want those dealers to be around in case I have warranty issues.

I would have preferred local retailers as well. Sadly, they rarely carry anything I'm interested in and ordering stuff through them takes forever. Mostly, I kinda miss the social aspect of it. Cup of coffee and a smoke with fellow noodlers, talking crap about drummers... :)
With so much stuff coming out, I'd think it's pretty much impossible these days for real stores (especially the smaller ones) to keep up to date.

Re: More thomann fun and their legendary 3-years warranty

Thing is that Thomann cannot cover not even costs of 5 EUR. All their advertising about warranties is totally a scum. Their advantage is that there is no one bigger enough to sue their ass off.
