hey folks,

what is the most INSANE pup for heavy stuff for an LP? something that would respond well to chugga chugga palm mutes mostly at standard tuning. something that will retain note for note definition under heavy gain.

:D

Dimebucker? Invader?

My vote is for the SH6, in my experience it is more cutting "aggresive" than the Dime.

a ceramic warpig!!

bugger is evil all the way down to E.. yes.. an octave lower

What did a Les Paul ever do to you to warrant such a awful request? :D

If I wanted massive gain without worrying about a Paulas signature sound, I'd go with a EMG set...I'm listening to a live version of "No more Tears" right now on the internet radio and you'd never know it was a Les Paul. Over the top, but very clear.

Zakk Wylde has an 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck. Kirk Hammett uses 81's in both the neck and bridge.

I had a DD in a LP for a long time and loved it. Did the metal thing really well and sounded killer through my Marshall.

I've installed several Dimes into PRS CE/CU 22s and 24s and they all sounded wicked through my Mesa rack.

Either one will work, the Dime is a little more modern sounding and the DD is a little stronger in the mids.

If you go too hot, you get harshness and mud. Custom and Custom 5 will give you all the tight chugga chugga you need, and still retains all the tone.

A Duncan Distortion sh-6b for the bridge
and a Full Shred sh-10n for the neck
This combo will do ANYTHING from super saturation to the most crystaline
tone ever, especially when you play the Les Paul with the pup switch in the middle position. This is the set-up I have in my Paul and it's absolutely amazing. You'll love it.

I'd have to say the metal livewire...now whether it's good or not is another story.

Re: most INSANELY AGRESSIVE brige pup for an LP?

EMG 85 would have the most control and a fair bit of output. the 81 has more output but less control and tone. Get the 85, it sounds awsome for that type of stuff. And remember when you decide you want your les paul to sound like its meant to, get a custom custom:yell:
