I think this'll be cool...I like the added power being there if I need it..I'm not lookin' for totally vintage, but if it can also do that, then great
The CC will cover you then. It's my favorite bucker in the bridge of a Strat, ash or alder. It's just perfect for it. Lew would agree too. :)

lol...bro, it's no contest. As much as I like the JB, I've had it and a CC in the same guitar and the CC just killed it, hands down. Of course, this is the same guitar that now has a DMZ PAF in it...lol.

Oh, with the buttery top end, it's a lot easier to pull off Lynch's tone from the second Lynch Mob album. I know that's a Demon on that record but with the right settings on the amp, the CC will do it.

nice! while I didn't like the production on that album ( I thought the guitars were WAYYYYY too washed out and buried) I liked the nasty tone he had

There's a few songs that the production could be better but his tone is nasty, open and woody on the solos but clean too. Sounds like Soldano's for sure.

I think you'll really like the CC. Is this for your Lynch ESP?

Re: most specific request ever..lol

I'm playing through a Splawn as well. Warmoth strat-alder body, started with a '59, loved the clarity but the highs were icepick. I was gonna try a CC or Blues trembucker next but got a really good deal on a used RIO BBQ and that's what is staying in the guitar.

Heres why:

Good clarity-not a paf but more vintage than most pups this hot.

Can growl and cut like a JB but no icy highend.

Bass is not as pronounced as a 59 but is there and not flubby.

Great pup but who knows a CC or Blues may be better but I liked it enough to stop looking. Best of luck to you and congrats on your Splawn involvement. Mike

you have a quick rod or a pro mod?? always nice to meet a fellow splawn fan ;)

i have a BBQ in my basswood petrucci..it's a bit on the dark side in that guitar..I'm startin' to think that it's the guitar though and not the pickups! lol...

I'll be sure to give a full report once I have my CC instaled

Re: most specific request ever..lol

That makes sense I hear the BBQ the same way, a good fix for a bright guitar but could be dark in another.

I've got a quick rod as well, got it shortly after you got yours I believe. I got a lot of good info out of you and Dirrty Craig's posts and clips here and over on the Splawn board. Thanks!! I'm very happy with the amp.

Totally OT but I gotta ask. Does the gain knob on yours affect the clean channel. If the gain is turned all the way down I get nothing on the clean channel. It's like a second volume. I'm confused because these are true two channel amps right?

you're a splawn board lurker?? u must speak up, man! lol...

I think the BBQ would kill in an alder or ash bodied guitar...probably even maple...I dunno, the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards gettin' rid of the petrucci..not that it's a bad guitar..just not my thing really...I'm used to the esp necks I have and everything else just comes in second place...and right now, I really can't jusitify three axes, ya know?

the gain shouldn't affect the clean channel at all...I've never run that experiment though...interesting....

does it only affect the clean when it's all the way down or when it's really low too? I've run my gain anywhere from 9:00 to full blast and never noticed a change in the clean..kinda too late to try that out right now though..lol..
