Heres my vote for the best sounding older speakers still available in pretty good numbers . I vote for Peavey Scorpions and Black Widows. Actually, I think the Black Widows are much better seakers, but I think the Scorpions are less coloured in sound, and will do a fantastic job of letting your amps pure tone shine through. One thing about the aluminum cones on the 'Widows-they get brittle with age. They are probably all going to need a recone, but thats easy since they have replaceable baskets. These are great high power handling speakers. Poor Mans EV's!
