Re: Most versetile pup for METAL ?

I had a JB and it was nice but not the sound I wanted, I wanted more punch, more balls. Just put a Custom in, very happy, nice pickup. Has more of what I wanted, but I want screaming harmonics, you metal guys know what I mean. The custom is a great straight ahead, raw, rock and roll pickup! My brother in law has a super 3 in his hm strat. I always like the "hollow" colored sound it had. Mabey I'll try one of those or a FRED. Will any of us ever be happy? Well It makes me happy looking and I'm SURE it makes Duncan and Dimazio happy! Anyone try a Lawrence 500XL? I hear they are pretty mean?

Re: Most versetile pup for METAL ?

I'll throw down a vote for the infamous SH-5 Duncan Custom. I love the pup for metal and all things heavy! It's definetely versatile as well. I've never been a fan of the JB and could definetely never call it a metal pickup. It could do rock and hard rock for me, but when I wanted my metal moments, I'd switch guitars. Low end is too loose and airy, needed a little more "ooomph". :) $.02

Hey moom, its a single hum strat. So Fred or PAF Pro.

Re: Most versetile pup for METAL ?

FRED then in that case, like i said.... do what satch did. he had single in his old ibanez's before he went both humbucker. just look at the "big bad moon" video  as well as "satch boogie"

btw, what are you having in neck?
