Hi,
Can anyone please let me know the miunting screw/thread dimensions for a Duncan Designed VM Strat pup?

I've replaced an 85 strat bridge pup byt the old screws are dar too small to remount thr new pup!

Also, should I reverse the wiring so the whute wire is sildered to the pot or is that just for hunbuckers?

Many thanks and hello to all!

Craig

Re: Mounting screws!?

Hey Craig

if you don't have any screws try ebay or stewmac. Ebay sellers from China I was able to grab a big pile. This is a big pile of popular screws pickups use.

if you've got some screws that are a little wide that slip through the holes the trick I rely on is the baking soda and glue trick.
De-solder the pickup from the wiring and put it on a table
Put some electric tape under the pickups holes the screws go in
apply some baking soda
then some super glue
then more baking soda
wait about 5 minutes
take the tape off the back and put a bit of glue on the back of the pickup too
Usually a screw with a tap (sharp point) you can put through the glue/baking soda mixture without a lot of pressure. However if you got a drill try that method too
This does take a bit of practice so be patient, even I can mess this up once or twice. This does indeed work on pickups with the bases made of plastic. As well as metal base plates.

How strong is baking soda and glue

Re: Mounting screws!?

I assume you don't have the screws that came with the pup. If that chart is correct that shadowfire90 linked to, then DON'T do the baking soda/super glue trick. A 6/32 screw is about the most common screw you can find and is readily available in ANY hardware store.
