Hey guys.. Just curious if anyone owns like a Silhoute Specail? I'm wondering what the price range is and if you might like yours/

i own an axis sport, so I can't tell you exactly, but MM is a great brand, and their guitars are a dream to play. new they run between $1000 and $1500.

I don't own one of thier guitars, but they are fantastic instruments. Some of the best players around. I have a Stingray 5 that just kicks ass...

Amazing guitars... one day, one day i will own the John Petrucci 7-string piezo model.

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

I've tried a couple out and they were all great. Like Mattt I plan on owning one in the future.

The necks feel fantastic.

You can get them on Musician's Fiend for around $1,200 I think

Thanks so much guys.. I really appreciate it.. I thought they were probably good guitars.. I wonder why they are so good? I mean they are a typical bolt on guitar right? What makes them so good may I ask? Just cuirous..

Tim
Thanks again!

Ok.. If you own a Sil or special or whatever from Ennie Ball, and you own a Peavey Wolfgang special or wolfgang.. Which seems to be better built overall may I ask?
Thanks

i like music man guitars, the silhouette especially. with that deep cutaway and the nice hardware...... looks like a great axe to play/.

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

I think the general level of craftsmanship is quite high, while the price isn't over the top.

That and the fact that lots of people seem to really like the necks on Music Man guitars and basses.

The bass player in my band has a Warwick Streamer Jazzman (about $2,000 on MF) and a Peavey Cirrus fretless - he was highly impressed by the feel of the Stingray 5 neck.

Good craftsmanship at a good price, and great necks.

Mincer,

Great web site.. I'm checking it out now.. I love the link about scallloping.. I've thought about building my own Fender Type guitar and having this done as I'd love to have a floyd rose Fender with scallops, but with a gibson scale.. Yes! hehe

thanks for the kind words...that idea sounds really cool...id love to see pics if you get around to it!!

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

Mincer,

Thanks man.. I checked out your web pages.. Very pro looking.. I work as a web page programmer.. Doing Database to web stuff.. not the graphics and plain HTML and I can tell you that your web pages are very good.. I mean it..

Those guitars are very cool too.. Love that Gibson too with the Trapeze or whatever that tail piece is.. What a pretty guitar.. I'm also looking at the new Gibson ES137's.. I don't know if they are new or not, but I love the thin bodied hollow bodies like it without the F holes, etc.. It's between that, and a Robin.. which I played and fell in love with.. I think those have such good pickups maybe that's the reason, but we shall see..

I think if I had either the Gibson / Robin and maybe a Musican Man guitar made of alder or basswood that was leight weight then I'd be a happy puppy! hehe.. Then all I'll need is a botique amp to top off my Gas attack..hehe

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

those guitars are incredibly LIGHT! i played one in store before and it is actually very nice. Its actually smaller than an average guitar but plays very nice and is very strudy. I would change out those dimarzio pick ups to duncans but other thanthat it is a very well amde guitar. I think Benji from good charlotte uses one with a 59 humbucker in the bridge, and if it can with styand all that jumping they do im sure that guitar can' take alot of punishment.

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

to begin with, the necks are amazing. every model has a wonderful feel with that oil/wax finish on it. the construction is really high quality, and the attention to detail is really nice. Every burst guitar is hand "bursted" in the paint shop. I went on a tour of the place and it was really cool!

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

I have a sil special and axis sport. I think they are both fantastic guitars.
The neck feel awesome, especially if you like an all maple one. The guitars are light, and though they have the same scale length as a strat, they are slightly smaller because of the headstock size. The single coils on a sil special are very good indeed, though i am considering changing the humbucker on mine.
Also check out axis sports. They are not made any more, but look at ebay, and also many shops still have new ones left. You can get a sport with two singles and a humbucker. The singles are more powerful than the ones on a silhouette special, as is the humbucker, which is the EVH humbucker. The sports have ash bodies, and narrower but deeper necks, that feel amazing when you get used to them.

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

heya
i own a sillhoutte special
it rocks man
great strat tone without the price
i think, if i remember correctly, its got the same specs as a deluxe american strat - but MUCH cheaper!

the necks rock man, feel really nice - they are small necks tho, so u should try before u buy.
the pickups are sweet - bell like....lots of ppl dont like the bridge humbucker - but thats easily fixed ;)
if u would like some mp3s, PM me :13:

The Ernie Ball Axis... upon which the Peavey Wolfgang is based around, is a far superior guitar.

Ernie Ball out-class Peavey in every department.

Re: Music Man / Ernie Ball Guitars.. Any good?

I am in the saving stages of getting a Silhouette Special. After that will be an Axis. I have tried both the Axis and Wolfgang. I prefer the Axis. The neck feels smoother and more comfortable to me. The guitar seems to resonate better and I think the Wolf pickups are more harsh. That is not to say that the Wolf is a bad guitar. I think it is very well made. I just wouldn't spend the money on it when the Axis can be had.
