Music Stand

I had purchased a stand you know how it goes went with the cheapie to save some cash. What a mistake that was my pages keep falling off due to the thin lip everything rests on. I have a small binder with my songs of course it keeps falling off, then when I'm trying to put music on it the thing keeps falling over. Finally got frustrated enough just went back and bought a $50 stand man I have to tell you what a difference. It's the same old story you pretty much get what you pay for. My wife told me after she saw the cheap one why didn't you buy a better made one. Yea there's one of the times I should have listened to her.;)

Re: Music Stand

I used to stay in hotel's while working and noticed that some of the tabletop roomservice menu holders make excellent sheet music stands.
I have one on erm...... long term loan.

Re: Music Stand

I bought a cheap one from Sweetwater ( I think it was an On Stage brand one...collapsible into a small bag) . The thing was crap and would not hold my fake book...a standard 2" binder... without groaning under the weight. Since it would cost me at least half of what I paid for it to ship it back my sweetwater rep told me to just keep it...he's giving me the same discount on my next order. Good company Sweetwater.

Re: Music Stand

I got one probably 25 years ago that has a solid back and 2" lip that will hold "real" books (War and Peace or the double-volume The Iliad and The Odyssey might be pushing it). It's got wire clips that hold pages open, but Guitar World being square-bound gives it fits. Staple-bound books work well on it, as do spiral-bound.

I've also used it as a stand for my SR-16.

The traditional wire-frame ones may look like you're in an orchestra, but I'm sure real orchestral stands are much better quality.

Did they take the other one back/same store?

Re: Music Stand

Yes they did. They are good at the shop I deal with. They also tried to get me to buy a better one the first time around. Tony said ok he knew I was going to be back i'm sure, should have listened to him as well. I didn't think that one through.:smash:
