How do you share musical files online?
A bass player friend of mine who has been a bandmate off and on for a few decades lives near Austin ... at least three hours away. We are wanting to start writing some songs together again but I don't know how to communicate musical ideas online. I mean, I can record something in Reaper and render it to MP3, but in that format he would have no way to open it up and, for example, mute a bass track, add his own bass track, and then email the modded files back to me. As far as I know, he would only be able to import the MP3 into his recording program and, regardless of how many recorded tracks were rendered to MP3, it would be seen as one stero track. Is there a way to do this, and if so, does it require that we both use the same DAW?
