Hey i just read that the Dave Mustaine livewires are voiced like a JB and JAZZ.
What does that mean ?
Wouldn't that make the Mustaine Livewires very organic and passive sounding active pickups , so how come i dont hear too much about these.
How would u compare to Blackouts ?
Cheers

They are based on the JB and the Jazz...though the treble pickup seems to have more lows and lower mids than the JB in my opinion.

Never used blackouts but I would guess they sound quite different.

Probably dont hear a lot about them because people think the Mustaines will be buzzsaw pickups...which they arent.

I've compared the JB and Mustaine bridge back to back,
The Mustaine bridge can afford you about 6-10 dB more output (dependent on pup height on each guitar), less hum, slightly superior clarity, the only negative for me being slightly higher compression on the Mustaine.
Blackouts are based more so on EMG 81s/85s, a completely different beast to a JB/Jazz set.

So i take the Mustaines are active versions of the JB/JAZZ and the blackouts are better versions of EMGs , kind of.

What do u think is a more versatile combo, from metal to clean.

Re: Mustaine Livewires = Active JB/JAZZ ??

I have EMGs, Blackouts, and Mustaines - I would say that the Mustaines are the most versitile.

I´ve not used the Blackouts, but indeed the mustaines are very versatile.

EMG 89= most versitle active humbucker ever
I was using the BO set for a while till i got turned on to these
put a set in my guitar and never looked back
they have the roar of a full high output bucker and also the strat like tones of the SA noiseless single:naughty:
