MXR-10 band/NEQD

This thing sculpts tone unlike any Eq I've ever seen before. :smokin:

I threw it in my HTmetal 5h's fx loop and fully cut and boosted each slider to see what each individual one did and in no time I got my perfect tone. :fing2:

After getting a badass tone I thought how'd I ever even play without EQ'ing before because turning it off the amp alone sounded so empty and lifeless. :eek13:

If anybody is playing without an eq pedal they should seriously consider trying one. I might get a 7 band for dedicated clean tone eq....... I think this is the beginning of an eq addiction! :smokin:

I have the Kerry King version of that pedal, I like mine too. Very handy if you need to tweak your tone on the fly and don't have the extra money for mods, different speakers, ect.

I have one as well, as you stated upon first mess around with one I wondered how the hell it took me so long to buy one..

Re: MXR-10 band/NEQD

I have the Kerry F. King version, love it! Still haven't gotten around to doing the 2 amp trick with it, but it gives a nice instant tone change when I need it. The only other EQ I've ever purchased was an old DOD 6 band and it had nothing on the MXR. I generally only use it as a lead boost for the crunch channel on my Mesa.

Where in the chain do you put it? Does your axe have active pups? Do you use the EQ for both rhythm and lead? I ask, because, I really like Mxr gear, and I have wanted an EQ for awhile. Lastly, how low do you tune? Most guitars do not have anything happening below 75/80 hz, save for rumbling noises. Also, above 16 khz, is nothing of importance, typically. Engineers often cut these with high and low pass EQs. I wonder how it would sound if you rolled back the extreme low and high frequencies? Maybe even tighter sounding?

I have been meaning to get me a good EQ
the Pyle-O-Poo EQ I got last year works well
but is "inexpensively" built

saw some GE7's on GC used

I use my MXR-10 band in the effects loop of my Splawn Quick Rod sometimes and it's a great tool to have around.

It's in the fx loop all by it's lonesome (until I get a Carbon Copy to keep it company) and I think it likes it there.

Guitar has passive pup and I leave the EQ on all the time for rhythm and lead. I tune to E standard and I love LOW frequencies and scooped mids! I even have the Low boosted slightly on the amp to give a little more umphff.

Crushing Lows FTW !!
