whats the diff between the mxr micro amp and the mxr custom audio electronics boost pedal?

The Boost does more things and is probably better made

the boost and micro amp both have one knob that increaces to 20db, doesnt sound like it does more?

The Boost/Overdrive has an added over drive
The boost does not realy do anything else just does what it does better. It will be more transparant

If you're looking for a booster, consider also the Boss GE7. It can give a lot of flat boost, but also let you tweak the EQ of the boosted signal. A GE7 into the front end of a Marshall has been my main overdrive sound for 25 years.
