MXR Carbon Copy settings

Just got an MXR Carbon Copy to give me a little basic delay, nothing wild and crazy. I am running it through my effects loop in my EVH 5150 head after EQ, phaser and flanger.

I mostly play late 70s to late 80s rock--VH, Def Leppard, RATT, Aerosmith, Dokken, etc. Looking for good basic delay setup. Nothing outrageous. I'm a bit of a minimalist when it comes to effects, but since my amp doesn't have reverb, I want just a little bit of delay to provide some depth.

Before I sit down and meddle, too much. Anyone have suggested settings for the REGEN, Mix and Delay settings that gets them that good delay?

I know there are lot of folks out there with MXR CC.

Thanks in advance.

Re: MXR Carbon Copy settings

I know what you want, but I doubt you are going to find by asking this.

There are too many 'good delays' to simply throw settings out...

The simple single slap of "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" by VH to the cascaded echo of 'Women" by Def Lep to The metallic clang of Mr. Scary from Dokken...

I can only advise you to experiment with it, until you know how to find the sound that works for you.

But set the repeat to the min
Set the level to whatever gives the right volume, then work the delay time up from the min until you get that VH sound. That's a nice single slap.

If you lengthen the time a bit, and add some repeats, you'll eventually get an 80's Poison sort of tone. You'll want to drop the level some. The VH level is pretty high/close to the original.

Good luck. Tinkering with settings is time well spent.

I have a Carbon Copy, I keep all settings at noon with the button pushed in, which gives a sweet spacy reverb type of tone.

mod: on
regen: 8 o' clock
delay: 10 o' clock
mix: 10 o'clock

I use mostly (modulation on):
Regen: 10
Mix: 8-10
Delay: 10
Try one of these for a good slap back tone (modulation off on both):
Regen: 7
Mix: 11
Delay: 9

Regen: 11
Mix: 1
Delay: 8

I'd like to know the "Gilmouresqe" settings MXR claims you can get with this pedal

Re: MXR Carbon Copy settings

when i had the pedal, i usually kept the feedback up @ about 1/3, delay @ half, and tinkered with the time anywhere from 1/3 to 2/3 up. i usually used it for a lead echo like this btw.

Re: MXR Carbon Copy settings

For that "I don't have reverb so echo adds space to my otherwise super dry guitar sound" setting I like to run about 3 to 5 repeats spaced rather close together then run the mix in such a way that the repeats can be heard when you stop playing but sort of disappear when you are playing so the echo doesn't become the sound...

I use Echo like this mostly myself and used to have a Carbon Copy...start with all 3 knobs at 9 o'clock and tweak from there...I know that sounds like a very low setting but in the way you are talking about echo subtle is best and won't take over your sound.
