Re: mxr doubleshot distortion

The guy in town who sells them said the one side sounds like the dirt channel on a Marshall AVT, and the other sounds like the Dime Distortion.

Then he told me not to bother with it.

Re: mxr doubleshot distortion

Don't walk, RUN away from that thing as fast as you can. Trust me, it is trash.

One channel is a thick, muddy and an overly bassy mess that's noisy as heck. The other is an icepick sounding thin, overly high gain swarm of angry bees. It is NOT pretty by any means.

Take this from somebody who originally was suckered in by a dirty guitar magazine that gave it great reviews and said it was the perfect distortion/overdrive add-on to Fender amps. I spent 3 months tweaking everything I could to make it even remotely decent sounding with no success. There's no sustain at all either, and I was playing a Les Paul through it. It colors your tone so much, I could play a $50 Squire and get the same tone. You have been warned ;)

Re: mxr doubleshot distortion

oh by the way, due to musicians friend giving bad clips

can any of you post clips of the said pedals? preferably with the settings set to what i'm describing

here, this might help, i'm looking for a mix of this sound (pretty close to the deluxe)

minor threat

and this sound (more like a jcm900)

the unseen
