MXR Rockman Pedal

THis is incredibly cool but I do not know how much I could practically use it in our set. I could see getting one for nostalgia purposes. Not much more.

NAMM 2025: In perhaps the biggest gear release tease of the year so far, MXR has confirmed it will be reviving the cult classic Rockman headphone amp in a new pedalboard-friendly form factor later this month.

The news was officially announced in a not-so-cryptic Instagram post from MXR, which gave fans an early look at the forthcoming stompbox. There was no direct mention of the word “Rockman”, but commenters – having been shown the unit's unmistakable blue slider-equipped control panel and iconic font – were quick to put two and two together.

I think the sound is a little too specific. Had this come out 25 years ago, it would have been a bigger deal.

I don't know if it would work in my setup but I still want one. I also want a Joshua delay. Dammit MXR.

Also how freakin cool would it be if they put the POWER SUPPLY JACK ON TOP OF THEIR PEDALS.

I just read an article on this. I totally want one of these, just the cool factor. Price is a bit steep though I think at $229. I can’t want to hear some demos.

Awesome pedal (in concept). They should have built the CTRL onto the pedal itself, rather than make you buy and plug in yet another switch/controller. (I'm assuming that just switches the modes, or goes from whatever you have set to instant DIST mode.)

The ROG Mockman sounds similar. They omit the clipping LEDs but I would use a three position rotary switch to choose between LED, Germanium, and silicon clipping diodes.

And this next generation of players probably have no use for that sound, either.

Unless you are in a Def Leppard tribute band, this sound is of little use. I would not mind owning one if I wanted to noodle some Boston tunes. For $200+, my nostalgic hunger for those tones is not something that needs to be fed. Plus, I have a setting on my H90 that makes the Rockman sound fairly spot-on.

I think most of you are underestimating the market for "80s nostalgia" products. There's a bunch of hype for this on Reddit and other forums. Some people are interested in nailing "that sound" but a lot of players will probably be into it just to have a new box of tone with a retro vibe.

I saw this elsewhere. Not sure if it's official.
