My 2 Pickup choices for my Epiphone LP Classic

Hi guys, first post in the forum.

I've always hated the stock pickups in my Epiphone LP Classic (made in China), so I decided to buy 2 new SD pickups.
I've bought these pickups and they're being installed by a tech right now:

Bridge: APH-1 Alnico II Pro
Neck: '59

Obviously, these pickups will be better than the stock Epi pickups, since I spent about $250 CAD for both of them, but will they sound good together?

I chose Alnico II Pro because I wanted a similar tone to Slash's.

I chose the '59 neck because I wanted a classic-rock sound.

I chose 2 diff pickups for versatility.

I mainly play hard-rock with blues and metal influences.
Did I make a good choice in buying these 2 pups?

Sounds good. Slash uses the APH-1 in the neck too, and I nailed the Sweet CHild of Mine tone with it... I switched to the '59 becasue the APH was a little muddy for my tastes. (Now I've got a shorted cap so it's always too muddy... lol) Should be a good combo.

IMO, the '59 is the best pup for the neck position. I've also tried the APH, Jazz, and the pearly gates in the neck, but still prefered the '59er. For the bridge my fav is the C5. The C5 can do almost anything hard, heavy, and clean...

I have also own an Epiphne LP Classic and swapped the pickups for a SD Jazz SH2 and a JB SH4. I'm real impressed with the Jazz (a top quality pickup) but am not convinced by the JB(bridge...see rant below) and would have prefered another Jazz in the bridge with 20/20 hindsight. I think you've got a good combination though as far as versatility is concerned. From the SD demo MP3's i think an APH-1 would be a great choice for neck maybe even both positions to the best of m knowledge the oringinal PAF humbuckers had alinico II mags in them.

Aplogies but...

These (my ones) pickups are suppoded to be a good match (and seymours personal favourite combo) but in the "both" position the Jazz donimates the JB untill i roll of the Jazz Volume Pot a little. Is this to do with the JB being twice the impedance of the Jazz? and the lower impedance Jazz(8.6K) is loading the JB (16K) too heavily thus collapsing the JB's output? both pickups are equi-distant from the strings.

welcome jrcho88 - as for the pup choices - nicely done!! .. i think you'll love them ... i have both of those pups (in different guitars) and dig the sound for bluesy/classic rock alot ... dont be afraid to fiddle with the pup height once you get it to adjust to your taste ...

welcome u106215 - try lowering the jazz a bit and raising the JB a bit ... having them equidistant is not really a proper setup ... there is no way that a properly installed and adjusted JB should sound weak compared to anything .. that pup SCREAMS ...

I'm putting a '59 in the bridge and a Jazz in the neckof my Epi LP Standard. I already have the A2 sound in my Epi V with the Seth.

Good cos thats what I am going to get in my les paul (i was kinda worried cos of the cut in the mids)
