hey guys..i have a weber 5e3 kit that i am not talented enough to finish. i have a proposition for anyone in the northern nj,nyc area that i think isnt too bad of a deal. i have an old silvertone twin 12 that i love but i want to get this 5e3 kickin so im wondering if anyone with the ability to finish the kit correctly and neatly would be interested in doing so and in exchange they may have my beloved twin 12. anyone interested?

btw..the board is all soldered but its a matter of wiring up the sockets and switches and all that.

Re: my 5e3 project.

That Silvertone Twin amp is worth much more then your Chinese parted Weber chassis!!
Contact a friend of mine in NJ, Jon Taylor and ask him for some help or a trade but don't give away that amp for a few hours of homebrew help.
Tell him Bruce sent you....

Re: my 5e3 project.

I would listen to Bruce, he's the best amp guy on the forum.

Plus why would you wanna give away that twin twelve anyways? that thing is the stuff. I would kill for any vintage Silvertone.

Re: my 5e3 project.

someone once gave me a Silvertone Twin Twelve. I ended up trading it in on something, but I can't recall...of course, they weren't worth half what they are now

The Silvertone Twin 12 just needs a few simple mods to make it into an amp that'll rival any amp in quality tubular tone. I've owned several that Bruce has tweaked and honestly: if my Vox AC-30 had sounded as good as those Silvertones do at the reasonable volume of the Silvertones I'd have kept the Vox. Instead, I sold the Vox and kept the Silvertone Twin 12.

But they need tweaking to get them to sound that good.

The Vibrato is really good...great atmosphere. The reverb is pretty much useless though...so I just leave it on zero most of the time.
