Its time to show off another guitar i own. This ones a !980 Ibanez dt-50 destroyer that's had a hard life. I paid $600au for this guitar maybe 4 years ago now so it wasn't exactly cheap. I just had to get it because i fell in love with it and it reminded me of adrians smiths dt300. Some of the damage as scene in the pictures include chips right down to the wood, cracks and even knife marks where someone has ran a Stanley knife or something along it:18:. It also came with a original case that's had been done in a horror theme with the name pete on it, go figure :knockedou

Dimarzio super distortion bridge and tone zone neck 2 volumes with push pull coil tap and a bypass switch.
Only destroyer they made with Birch wood neck and body.

Didn't say that I didn't like it. I was amused that a hue such as that could be confused for LPB. :)

I don't like pointy guitars, but I have always drooled over the Ibby Destroyers.

Re: My !980 Ibanez dt-50 destroyer

Great old guitars. Have had a couple Destroyer IIs..an 1981 dt400, and a y2k dt420ri. I have pics tucked away somewhere on my computer.

My local shop had that exact color DT50 on the shelf about 5 years ago. Went to buy it, but it was not in the condition he was charging for it, and he would not budge on price.

If I ever find a DT300, I will hav eto find a way to cough up.some cash..only a few hundred were made..the most famous one probably being Adrian Smith's red one he used on the NOTB, and POM tours.

Nice guitar! Dings add mojo. Knife scars add wail, cry, and sustain.

I was fortunate to score an orange burst DT400 off the 'bay several months back. Great guitars. I'd love to have one of the natural korina models. I think I prefer the post-lawsuit body shape over the more literal explorer knock-off.

Well, it's a vintage Ibanez, I have to comment, don't I ;)? Of course, this and the Charvel hit all the right spots with me :).

You're right about the prices here - even if it's a basket case, they still charge for it. There was a candy apple red Blazer (three singles, all brass trem) I was eyeing a while back in a shop. It needed serious work, i.e. no frets left, but they were still charging $600...

How's the Tone Zone in the neck? Originals would've been a nickel covered Super 70/V2 combo.

I think I'd still prefer the lawsuit type (though I like that Ibanez has put their twist on the Explorer shape) - there was a Greco version in good nick that went for about $500 on the bay last year; kicking myself a bit for not jumping on it.

Dat case...any unsolved murders recorded from 1980s?

I personally would love a lawsuit era one it would make me so happy.

I like the tone zones despite what others think haha. But in actual fact the original pickups where just as good i may even change them back in one day.

Here they are in this older picture i have.

You must've punched the shutter when you took that picture, because it looks like a 12-string in that photo. How cool would that be?

Don't give me ideas ok haha.

My wife has a high end canon which i now use. I find it so damn confusing its very hit or miss for me.

That picture was taken way back in 2009 it was a simpler time then.
