Que music "Back In The Saddle Again"
I got my amp back today. Some anonymous person from church paid for the repairs on it.
Anyways, so it's not popping, hissing, etc, and has better output.
However, I had a question. A Peavey Delta Blues on 2 volume is "just right", but on my amp, channel=5 master=5 is that same perceived volume. I've suspected that the Delta Blues I play at church has a wiring problem since the volumes can be off, but if the post and pre are being used for distortion, it still plays at the same volume. Is this normal?
Cranked at all 10's, my amp no longer drops in output, so another problem I reported is fixed.
Anyways, all 10's is extremely loud, but it's about as loud on all 5's as the reissues are on all 3's. Is this normal? Mine's a '72, recently refurbished and repaired, with two brand new Celestion Classic Lead speakers. Granted, to compete with a PA, I once had to go to 10's / 9's, but I didn't realize yet that I had a broken speaker coil (which is why I replaced the speakers in the amp).
Still, for what it's worth, clean tone on this amp with my Lite Ash Stratocaster is to die for! I find myself using notch positions on other amps a lot more, but on this amp, I don't have issues with using the single coil pickup switch positions: in fact, they sound awesome. The notch positions still sound right, just not as good. I also played my '59 and PG+ through it, and they had less harshness than the Stage 1000 at church. I'm starting to understand the difference now, and I'm definitely not a fan of the Stage 1000. It's too harsh. Is it normal for solid state amps to have more "angular" (harsher) high mids and highs? I also noticed a lot more difference in the guitars when playing one versus the other on the Stage 1000 versus my Twin Reverb. For a second I wondered if it adapted to guitars better.
So anyways, I'm happy, but had a few questions. Sorry for the long rant, I'm just so excited that my amp is back  :arms: :fest7: :fest6: :18: :yourock:
