My band just put together a video for one of our originals!

We are mostly a cover band, but we do have a few originals that we like to play from time to time. This one is probably our strongest, so when we decided to put the video together it was the obvious choice.

Our bassist did all the audio and video editing, and all the filming. The recording was done using an interesting setup. Our bassist has a lot of really nice video equipment, but we didn't have a good way to record. We ended up splicing it together using a direct line for the vocals from a Zoom H4n (some drums bled through the vocal mic), the main video camera mic + a shotgun mic of some sort setup to pick up mostly the two guitar amps, but also some drum bleed through, and another nice video camera mic on the bass amp (again, with some drums bleeding through). We spliced it together, and for what it is, I think it sounds pretty good. If we do another one, we are going to use an actual interface and mic setup and record individual tracks for each instrument.

Thanks for watching!

Not my style at all, but a cool song & video.

If you guys are planing to do any of your upcoming (hopefully) recordings live, be sure to throw up a room mic or two along with mics on your instruments. I think your recording sounds great considering how it was done, and I love the old school vibe the distant micing adds.

Thanks!

This was our first time recording together, and it all kinda came together last minute. The bassist rented some special attachment for his camera for some other unrelated reason, and decided we should shoot the video. We are planning on shooting another one for another original, and I have a lot of ideas about how I'd like to do the next one differently in terms of the recording.

All in all, though, it was a great learning experience and a lot of fun.
