Yeah...so my band recorded a cover of the Donovan song "catch the wind" and its up for free download, for anyone thats interested. Its not really too much like the original, haha...no folky bouncyness to it or anything...but still...free...haha.

Uhm...it sucked? and didn't fit what I felt the song needed...haha...So we did it as an experiments in low fidelity song.

The way I look at it is...Whats the point of covering a song if its gonna sound like the original? If someone wants to hear it done that way, I'd suggest going and listening to the original.
I mean, personally when I hear bands cover songs, and it sounds too much like the original, I wonder what the point was? Anyone can play a song exactly as it was written, there's plenty of cover bands out there that do that for a living. But taking someone else's words, and building your own idea of how it should sound around that, and creating something new/different...that is a different thing entirely.
I dunno if this would really technically count as a "cover" since it is sooooo different...but, I dunno what else to call it.

To me, I always thought catch the wind was a great song, based solely on lyrical content. But musically, and the melody, just didn't fit the "feel" of what I got out of the song.
I always viewed it, sorta like a love song directed towards someone who has died. Like you're standing in the cemetery at their grave. Thinking about the hopelessness of loving someone who is gone forever. So thats what we went for with our version.
The original is nice and all, but the upbeat folky bouncyness sorta ruins it for me...So we did it like we think it needed to be done. If ya dig it, kool, if not, thats fine too.

haha...Eh, if ya want to feel free...there's other stuff up on Bandcamp, and some other stuff up on Myspace too I believe...a Live video on Youtube...an if ya dig it, feel free to "like" us on Facebook (we post new stuff fairly regularly, and anytime we do free downloads we announce it there along with all other "news" at least until the website is done being built)...and if ya don't dig it, thats ok too...haha.
