playing at a club tonight on the regular sunday gig my bass player some how vibrates the head off the cab, it burps and squeels a few times and then poops out. bummer. not sure how that happens and its never happened before. heavy stuff falls hard.
the bigger bummer is that its not his. its mine :smack:

i cant wait to try and fix this thing. anyone have a schematic for an ampeg svt5 pro? we have a busy weekend coming up with a friday evening set at a festival, then a bar gig at night, a car show saturday afternoon, then a set with murali coryell on sunday. oyi

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

ampeg has block diagrams but not schematics, thanks anyway. i guess ill have to do it the old fasion way

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

Yep...my GK800RB took a header off of the 2 x 15 cab I had it on. Silly thing dropped all the way to a concrete floor and stopped making noise...mainly on account of the power main popping out.

Plugged it back in and it worked fine.

Wish I knew what would do it specifically. I'd had a Peavey Mark IV head and a hartke 4 x 12 cab that I could run all day and all night and nothing would move on it.

Sorry to hear it Jeremy, good luck with the ole soldering iron!

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

All my bass cabs, except one, are carpeted. My Seymour Duncan Bass amps don't move- they weigh around 35 lbs, concentrated onto the 4 feet on the amp, anchored into that carpet on the cabs. My rack however, is an SKB plastic rack, and my 2x15 cab is not as deep as the rack. Yes, the rubber feet do sort of grab the carpet, but the rack does need to be balanced on the cab properly. BTW, one of my Seymour amps is pretty fragile, and it has to be not on top of the cab- years of sitting on top of a cab pushing 40hz at stupid volume has taken its toll on that head.

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

so far so bad
got it all apart yesterday and other than the fan and handle, nothing is obviously messed but it goes right into protect. happy happy joy joy

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

:wow: Sorry to hear it, bro.

At least it wasn't the Celtic.

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

trust me, that would be way easier to fix. the ampeg is a crazy mix of 5 or 6 pc boards while either of my celtics are simple ptp layouts. but i have to play the celtic on friday so im glad its working

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

Maybe your bass player should go down to his local Daddy's Junky Music and rent a bass amp for the weekend.

I've rented amps from then a number of times. We usually make up a price and a time frame. :laugh2:

Re: my bass player is going to be beaten

i havent been in a daddys in a long time though there is one not that far if they havent closed. im not sure they will have something that sounds good and is 1000w but i guess i should have him check it out. the sound guys at this festival are usually weak when it comes to monitors
