In my strat I have in the neck a Seymour Duncan SSL 5-2 Vintage/Mid-Fender 57/62 reissue/Bridge-GFS Alnico Mini HB meant for the neck position (due to lower inductance/resistance-better match for single coils). I know it seems disrespectful to the two great single coils to have put this "low end" pup along side, but please be advised that this pickup suprised the hell out of me! i bought it to try and upgrade this Epiphone Strat copy i bought for a song at a pawn shop (Kahler Loaded from the factory!) I liked the sound of that pickup in the bridge of that guitar so much that i replace my lace sensor hot gold dually that was in my strat. it is an early 90's Beck Sig or Strat Ultra-really no difference. i have it wired with a master tone master volume (sterling silver 4-leaf clover over the extra pot hole!)
I have a push/pull pot on the tone that i used for splitting the dually but i just wired the mini up for full time humbucking because of the lower output and that mini's are thin sounding anyway. i know that i have given up my Knopfler tones in the 4-position, and I really do like that sound. But this GFS mini has inspired me to take the plunge and order the Antiquity Mini. The only reason I didn't to start with is because from what I have learned of the Antiquities, they are not 4-conductor pups. But I don't care anymore! The mini in the bridge position is the perfect humbucker for a 25.5" scale strat type guitar! it growls but with just a little roll back of the volume knob, one can clean up real quick!
